Every body is a unique world

Yesterday my physiotherapist, Luissana Ramirez, explained the importance of respecting the natural biomechanics of each athlete because EVERY body is very different.

To illustrate the above statement, I will share the same example that she used about the famous and controversial sprinter Usain Bolt, who has been ranked as the best athlete of its kind up to date.

Surprisingly, when Usain was a child he was diagnosed with Scoliosis (a curvature of the spine) but that was never an impediment for him to develop as a professional athlete, and accumulate as many Olympic gold medals in 100 and 200 meters as he has in his 30 years of age.

According to Luisanna, Bolt is a clear example that every body is a unique world. Each patient is different and should be treated in a completely individualized way.

If we analyze the biomechanics of this athlete, you can see how his knees collapse in the first few meters, so many therapists would think that his movements are completely inadequate and this could cause many knee injuries. Nevertheless, Usain Bolt functions well this way, he compensates his steps in an imperfectly perfect way and this makes him unique.

Regarding the study of the human body, we could say that although everybody has striking similarities, we also have characteristics that make us unique. For this reason, the claim made by my physiotherapist that "every body is a unique world" is 100% correct.

With this I want to say that while all the tips I offer you in this blog are based on knowledge of the average human body, there are signs that we can´t overlook and not necessarily all the recommendations apply to everyone.

Remember that pain is the first RED FLAG, so pay close attention to those little warnings and do not wait until it's too late to be treated by a professional.
