I'm sure you, like me, have suffered a heavy blow or twist in one of the joints that have produced a lot of pain and even swelling.
And what is the first thing people recommend us? Put ice on it!!!
But, do you know how to apply it correctly?
For those who do or don't know, I'm giving you, along with the professionals from KineMed, a functional guide to know what we can achieve when we apply cold and how to do it correctly.
What can be achieved with the application of cold?
-Control the flow of inflammatory substances in the area of trauma.
-It decreases pain caused by the nerve block.
-Decreases and controls inflammation in the early days.
-Vasoconstriction of blood vessels.
When should I apply cold?
-In the early acute stages.
-During the following 48 to 72 hours after the trauma.
-When a professional in physiotherapy or doctor recommends it.

How should I apply it?
-A bag with ice and a slight amount of water. Place a damp towel to avoid burning the skin.
-Immersions in cold water with ice, when the trauma areas are very large.
-You can apply an ice cube directly on the skin, moving it circularly (be careful with burning the skin).
-Depending on the severity, it is recommended to apply 2-3 times a day or even every hour during the day.
-The application limit is 10 to 15 minutes.
Gladiators take these tips into consideration and don't waste your time treating injuries in a wrong way.
