In the world of physiotherapy, there are a lot of methods, equipment and techniques to offer the patient a fast injury recovery. Precisely, because of the minor tear that I suffered on my left leg’s hamstring, Kinemed’s physiotherapists have applied various treatments that have helped me recover from the injury in a very short time.
Because of the above, in the next posts I’ll be sharing with you different modalities of therapy so that you can become familiar and motivated to use them. Today we will start with the PRESSOTHERAPY.
The pressotherapy is a modality of physical therapy that uses the positive pressure on one or several corporal segments, using an equipment that looks like “boots”. These boots are divided into a series of chambers that are inflated and deflated sequentially with compressed air to exert pressure on all surfaces of the areas to be treated.
Its main objective is to stimulate the venous and lymphatic circulation, favoring the venous return, the elimination of toxins and retained liquids, and the cellular oxygenation.
In addition to giving great benefits to the circulatory and lymphatic systems, the effects are also very positive in the muscular system, as it helps to relax muscles, strengthen tissue connection, relieve muscle spasms and reduce fatigue.
All these benefits are ideal for athletes like us, as they contribute to the recovery of intense training sessions. So if you had a week of strong workouts, the combination of a sports massage with a pressotherapy could provide a VERY POSITIVE and immediate effect on your bodies.
IMPORTANT
If you have any of the following conditions, you MUST NOT use pressure therapy, or consult it with your doctor and your physiotherapy specialist:
-Deep venous thrombosis
-Unconsolidated fractures
-Infections in any extremity
-Heart failure or any other pathology in which increased blood or lymphatic flow is not recommended
-Thermal thrombophlebitis
-Severe peripheral arterial insufficiency
-Dermatitis
Gladiators, I invite you to visit Kinemed or your favorite physiotherapist so that you can take advantage of this effective and relaxing therapy.
